Hello Coaches,

Today we have an important story to tell regarding one of FABC’s founding members, Coach Ed Kershner and his fight against kidney failure.

Coach Kershner’s resume speaks for itself: Hall of Fame enshrinement Nationally in 2021 and in the states of Florida and Indiana. State Championships. 45 years as a head coach and 901 wins in Florida and Indiana. We all know how hard it is to get a 20-win season – Coach Kershner averaged that for nearly a half a century.

Along the way he’s helped thousands and thousands of players, coaches and basketball fanatics like you and me. Coach has been so successful and is so loved not because of all those wins, but because of all of the lives he’s touched.

And now it’s time for all of us in FABC, his current team, to help him get ONE MORE WIN.

Coach needs a new kidney. He spends 10 hours a day on a dialysis machine to remove the toxins from his blood. It’s a grueling process that significantly reduces his quality of life. He and his wife Joyce are dedicated, disciplined and courageous in this fight. But they can’t do it alone any more. They NEED you.

Here’s what you can do:

(1) Become a living donor. You can call Halifax Health Transplant Services at (386) 425-4650 for or visit https://halifaxhealth.org/services-treatments/our-services/transplant/  for more information about this process.

(2) Help raise awareness. You can share this email, retweet or repost the social media posts (@FABCHoops on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook), or have conversations with your teams, programs and schools.

(3) Donate. You can donate directly to Halifax Health Foundation here: https://eshop.halifaxhealth.org/foundation

With your help, we can come together and help Coach Kershner get ONE MORE WIN!

Thank you,
FABC
