Florida Association of Basketball Coaches – Accomplishments

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Started in Orlando in a meeting of Central Florida head coaches organized bi Coach Ed Kershner in the Fall of 2009
Host a 1 day Mens & womens coaching clinic in Orlando each year on the Saturday after Labor Day weekend
Conduct our Coach & Player of the year banquet in the afternoon and our girls & boys allstar game that same evening on the same site
Honor Milestone victories of head coaches (100, 200, 300,400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900).There is a different award for every level including Junior College & 4 year coaches
Our top awards are the King & Queen of Court for the top male & female player in the Sunshine State
The “Court of Legends” Hall of Fame is our crown jewel which is located at the RMF / Lakeland Center highlighting the top coaches, players, and teams of the past history. The wall is sponsored by Publix grocers
Developed a state wide email communications system with 1,200 addresses. It is updated with coaching changes over the spring and summer & new coaching changes are posted on our website at www.fabcbasketball.net
Only sports organization in our state that compiles the overall won-loss records of both men & women basketball coaches
Our scholarship search program is for biographies of players at all levels that includes contact information, academic grade point average in core and overall, plus player stats. It has been very successful as we cover 5 Southeastern states (Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Florida. It’s a valuable tool to help student athletes
In the process of bring back our one hour state – wide radio call in show which we discontinued temporarily. It will be a 1 or 1.5 hour show pre-season in November & post season in March
Developed a positive relationship with our state high school association in getting our staring date moved back for girls so they could be part of March Madness like the rest of the nation. Our girls coaches requested our involvement with positive conversations with the FHSAA
