FLORIDA ASSOCIATION OF BASKETBALL COACHES

The Voice of Florida Basketball

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Fellow Coaches:

The 2019-2020 school year brings us many new changes to the FABC.  Last year we lost our executive director (Jim Haley) to illness.  Jim was the heart and soul of the FABC since its inception and Jim will be sorely missed.

The FABC has numerous goals for the upcoming year. Our membership drive is our top priority.  We need members to grow the FABC and help push our agenda.  We are already ahead of schedule with over 200 members signed up before our membership drive push.  Strength is in numbers and we need everyone part of the FABC.  The question you must ask yourself is why am I not a member? The membership fee is $25 dollars with numerous benefits that will be outlined on our web site.

This past summer we ran our first ever FABC Team Camp to coincide with the NCAA recruiting calendar. The camp was a huge success with over 140 team participating over the two weekends.  The FABC will be working hard to certify the team camps next year.

Our Fall Clinic will be held September 7 at Bishop Moore High School.  Speakers will be Donnie Jones – Stetson    Stan Van Gundy – Former NBA Coach    Bart Lundy – Queens University Charlotte    John Thompson – North Carolina Wesleyan University and Michael Fly – Florida Gulf Coast.  We may add at least one more speaker.   The FABC Fall Shootout will take place September 21-22 at IMG in Bradenton.  It will be a team event as well as an individual event.
The FABC will also name All State Teams, FABC All Star Games, Court of Legends as well as other events throughout the year.

The FABC is your voice for change as we work hand in hand with the FHSAA and also with National organizations like the NCAA, NABC, NHSF.  Please consider becoming a member.

Regards
Bob Horodyski – President FABC
