Aubin Goporo, head boys basketball coach at Florida Air Academy for the past 15 years, confirmed Thursday he is no longer with the program.

Goporo’s FAA teams won four state titles and made six state tournament trips under his leadership, and his former players received basketball scholarships to colleges including Florida, Texas, Kansas and Arizona State. Two, Sasha Kaun at Kansas and Walter Hodge with the Gators, played on NCAA championship teams.

With Goporo at the helm, the Falcons won state championships in 2001, ’03, ’05 and ’07. He also was an assistant coach for the school when it won its first state basketball title in 1998. His 2002 and ’13 teams also reached the state tournament.

In 2013, Goporo passed 300 career wins, and he leaves FAA with a record of 357-56.

Goporo joined the FAA staff in 1996 upon graduation from Florida Tech. He played as a backup guard in the 1988 Olympics for his native country, the Central African Republic.
