There are high school basketball coaches, and then there are head coaches who are devoted mentors, who do everything in their power to impact young lives moving forward. The latter describes Cassandra Rahming, the head coach of the Palm Beach Lakes girls basketball team.
The Rams, from the current team and from past teams, celebrated their amazing coach prior to Saturday’s 70-26 win over John I. Leonard to stay undefeated in the 2016-2017 season. Rahming was presented a commemorative ball and plaque to honor her 400th career win as head coach on the Rams, which ws earned in late December.
“Just watching the ladies I’ve coached become great women in society,” says Rahming. “They’re mothers, they’re parents, they were able to go off and become successful business people, they’re serving our country, some of them are coaching, they went on and got degrees through basketball, so I think that’s the biggest accomplishment for me.”
Eighteen of Coach Rahming’s players have gone on to play college hoops on scholarships, which is an average of one per year.
