The boy’s basketball team at Graceville now has its third head coach in the last few months.

The newest coach in place is 24 year old Chase Merritt, a star player at Slocomb High School in Alabama, and a 2015 graduate of Troy University. Obviously this is his first coaching gig.

Graceville principal Larry Moore telling Newschannel 7 Sports Tuesday coach Merritt had a very good interview, and comes highly recommended. Moore adds coach Merritt seems like a “very good fit for our community.”

His hiring goes before school board approval Tuesday, but Merritt has already begun working with the kids.

Merritt takes over for George Kennedy, hired after Matt Anderson was pushed out for no apparent reason. Anderson quickly found a job at Marianna, Kennedy left after only a few weeks on the job
