Flagler College head women’s basketball coach Erika Lang-Montgomery has announced Kara McKissack has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the school and play basketball starting in 2015-16.

“We are excited to have Kara officially join our Flagler family,” said Lang-Montgomery. “Signing was only a technicality as Kara made her decision last summer to become a Saint. We have gotten to know her and her family pretty well the last couple of years. Kara has been a regular at our camps and she attends many of our home games. She is a talented guard who is dedicated to improving her game and contributing at the guard position. Kara is a great shooter and will be a nice addition to our perimeter play.”

McKissack is a 5-foot-8 combo guard who stars at nearby Clay High School in Green Cove Springs, Florida. The four-year letter winner has earned first-team all-county honors last year in not only basketball, but in volleyball as well. McKissack is a two-time team captain who averaged 12.5 points, 3.1 steals and 2.5 assists per game for the Blue Devils. She earned honorable mention All-First Coast accolades as a sophomore. As a freshman, McKissack was selected to the All-Queen of Palms Tournament Team.

McKissack plans on majoring in psychology while at Flagler. Flagler’s historic campus and location played a role in her decision to choose the St. Augustine-based school, as well as the coaching staff making a positive impression.
